IN MEMORY OF RON HOGAN Doin’ it in the Dirt

ALAN Smail and Garth Hogan have pooled their collective resources and hatched this brilliant tribute to a 1940s style American sprint car. The roots of this project are both strong and deep. Let’s start with Garth’s half of the story. There’s not much we can add to the tale Garth told of his fascinating history in his recently published book titled ‘Go Fast or Go Home”. It’s an endearing tale of a life lived for the love of speed resulting from his father Ron’s automotive engineering background and entrepreneurial production of Hogan speed equipment. In 1954 Ron built a highly successful V8 60 powered midget, which Garth has faithfully restored and recreated.
