10 area events to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community

1. PRIDE ST. LOUIS KICK OFF EVENT: On June 4, mingle with LGBTQ+ power brokers and dedicated volunteers as Pride STL presents awards to exceptional community members. Then enjoy performances by the newly crowned Pride Royalty Court, pridestl.org.

2. PRIDE CARE-A-VAN: Now in its third year, this initiative rolls out June 5 and consists of approximately 150 decorated vehicles driven through St. Louis. The Care-A-Van will begin at Cortex at noon and end with a Pride picnic. For more info, email regionalpride caravan@gmail.com.

3. PRIDE NIGHT WITH THE CARDINALS: On June 10, when the Redbirds take on the Cincinnati Reds, the Gateway Men’s Chorus will perform. Those who purchase a special themed ticket will receive a Cardinals rainbow hooded pullover. A portion of each ticket will be donated to PFLAG Greater St. Louis, mlb.com/cardinals/tickets/specials/theme-tickets/pride.

4. SOULARD PRIDE: On June 11, this block party along Menard Street will feature music, dancing, and a drag show. The famed golf cart parade through the historic district promises to be bigger and zanier than ever, kreweofvices virtues.com/soulard-pride.

5. PRIDE ST. CHARLES: The first festival, in 2015, began in the pouring rain and ended under a double rainbow. This year’s celebration will be held on June 18 from noon-8 p.m.at the Family Arena in St. Charles. pridestcharles.org.

6. BLACK PRIDE: The festival portion of Black Pride will be held on Kiener Plaza on June 20, when attendees can look forward to performances, a mini ball, a drag show, dancing, a Healthcare Village, and more. Black Pride goes on to celebrate its 27th year with three days of events August 19-21. This year’s theme is “Black, Bold, and Beautiful.” blackpridestl.org.
