Five plants loved by the Royal family

The Queen’s favourite plant: Lily of the Valley

SWEETLY scented lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) is Her Majesty’s plant of choice, and it made an appearance in her bridal bouquet when she wed Prince Philip in 1953.

This hugely popular plant with its white bell-shaped flowers (there are pale pink varieties too) does best in fertile soil in sun or partial and also makes a delightful carpet under shrubs.
