Ditch or keep your cables?

If you’re anything like us, you’ll have bags full of old leads that you’re keeping ‘just in case’ they come in useful. Tied together, they’d probably stretch to New Zealand. What’s maddening is that many of these cables probably became obsolete years ago. So, which ones can you safely dispose of, and which should you keep?

Apple’s 30-pin connectors and FireWire

Apple no longer uses the 30-pin connectors that were common on), which featured on the very first iPods and some high-end drives and camcorders, has largely been replaced by Thunderbolt and USB. FireWire and 30-pin cables could therefore be recycled, as it’s unlikely you’ll find new devices using them.
