Rare early manuscripts go online

More than 240 rare manuscripts have been digitised and . They come from Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, the Low Counties and Scotland, and date from the 9th to the 16th century. During the Reformation over 90 per cent of Scottish religious manuscripts were destroyed, so the Scottish ones are especially rare. Among the manuscripts is the ‘Borthwick Girdle Book’, a 15th-century almanac that could be worn on a belt when folded up.
