In 2004, I decided to buy a proper touring vehicle. My Toyota Venture with its front-wheel diff lock I’d installed had been good till then, but it was time for something different: longer, more challenging roads in Africa.

I don’t know much about cars and have no preferences when it comes to a manufacturer, so I could shop around. My son-in-law Stephen de la Harpe , though, so when I came across a second-hand diesel model with , I bought it. A long, double cab with a canopy, which made sleeping inside possible.
