Get away for… THE WEEKEND!
Our journey south to Norwich for the weekend was to take us past Blickling Hall, a National Trust property near Aylsham and, wow, what a spectacular place this is.
Being a mathematician, I love symmetry and this place has lines of symmetry all over it. Yes, I could live here â so long as I could keep all the riff raff out! Meanwhile, I have to cope with being just one of the riff raff.
The walled garden is pretty and colourful. However, around the other side of the house, the parterre gardens are astonishing! Yew topiaries, paths, lawns and flower beds all lead the eye in a wonderfully symmetrical way towards the house.
We could have spent most of the day wandering the 55-acre formal gardens and ambling from one cafĂŠ to the other eating cream cakes, but we also wanted to look around the house.
