FOR as long as I have been involved with Series Land Rovers, the Weber 34ICH single-choke carburettor has been offered as a replacement for the Solex PA40 and Zenith 36IV fitted as original equipment to the 2.25 petrol Series II/IIA/III engines. It used to be marketed as offering better fuel economy. Quite apart from the fact that replacing a worn-out carburettor with a brand new one will always give you better economy, the Weber was a fair bit smaller than the original Land Rover carburettors and I suspect that most of the economy gains came from the engine
