THE RISE OF THE ‘TIKTOT’

Over the past two decades, social media has boomed. While most of us were brought up in an era when the internet was non-existent, children are now being born into a world where almost everyone has multiple accounts across various platforms. For the younger generations, social media is second nature.

In 2021, nearly all UK children went online at some point, with video-sharing platforms such as YouTube and TikTok being the ones most popular among children as young as three.

But while the majority choose just to watch the content, 31% of children are posting videos they’ve made themselves.
