Our story on page 10 is a tough read. Told by Sue, who can’t use her real name forand all our sister magazines, including , are trying to change these grim statistics. We know that behind every number is another woman, just like us. Because the truth is that the line between being safe and unsafe is thin. At any time, a friend or family member could be in a situation where they are unsafe and need a place to live. We also want to change the community understanding of ‘homelessness’, which is why our campaign is called . We need to remove the ‘shame’ around the word homelessness which is preventing women, like Sue, from seeking out services that can be life-changing. We want our government to take notice and invest more in dealing with this issue. You can make a first, positive step toward this happening by signing our petition at .
