In Pursuit of BEAUTY

For many gardeners those first glorious days of summer, when all is still lush with the verdant energy of spring, are what the year is planned around. And planning the garden is something at which Sandra and Jonathan Blaza excel. The couple have lived at The Old Vicarage in Burley-on-the-Hill, near Rutland Water, for 25 years, their home standing within a more or less triangular three-acre plot. “When we bought the house there was no garden, just a sloping tangle of weeds and self-seeded cherry trees with a mysterious rectangular space surrounded by an overgrown privet hedge, which we later found out was an old tennis court. But the place had such a lovely feel,” Sandra recalls.
