SILVER RUSH

Silver salmon, aka cohos, are fast becoming the new favorite of Alaska’s salmon river fisheries. While king salmon populations are down throughout much of The Last Frontier, coho numbers are thriving. On top of that, cohos are fairly simple to catch and easy to access, even on Alaska’s road system.

There are some good coho streams to fish near Anchorage, but for most anglers traveling to Alaska, escaping crowds and catching salmon are the objectives, and to do this you’ll want to head to the Kenai Peninsula and fish the Sterling Highway. Cohos make their way into Sterling Highway
