THROUGHOUT its long history, hunting has always faced change as the countryside it operates within has altered. My predecessors as chairmen of the Masters of Foxhounds Association (MFHA) wrestled with the coming of barbed wire, the building of motorways and, of course, the passing of the Hunting Act, all of which were predicted to end hunting. The sport has, however, always evolved, and despite the many challenges that it has faced over the years, we have retained its essence.
