Poignant moment for The Queen and her Leia

ONLOOKERS saw a historical moment as The Queen was present to watch her home-bred Highland mare claim the overall Horse & Hound mountain and moorland (M&M) supreme inhand championship in front of a packed Castle Arena grandstand.

The atmospheric setting, aided by The Queen’s presence and the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, was the perfect stage for the 12 native breed champions to be showcased. David Puttock was in the judge’s seat and chose exquisite five-year-old Balmoral Leia as his pick for the title.
