Concrete infill would permanently scupper link between heritage lines

TWO heritage lines are facing a renewed battle to prevent a bridge that crosses a potential link between the pair becoming permanently infilled with concrete.

The Eden Valley Railway at Warcop and Stainmore Railway at Kirkby Stephen East have ambitions to lay five miles of track to connect with each other.

However, last spring, as reported in issue 288 of , National Highways (formerly the Highways Agency and later Highways England) infilled a stone arch bridge at Great Musgrave, blocking the route.
