Ex-midwife Tianna used to deliver babies, but nowadays she spends most of her time delivering bespoke maternity shoots for newborns and mums-to-be. She started out photographing her baby girl, but when unpredictable shifts and long hours kept them apart she left the NHS and opened for business. THE APPRENTICE

NAME: Marie Ainge

A milestone birthday prompted Leicestershire-based Marie to sell her kayaking kit and raise the funds to buy her first camera, a Nikon D3400. Lockdown provided her with the opportunity to explore her newfound hobby and she’s since tried her hand at multiple genres and upgraded to a D7200. Today it’s her first time working in a studio setting, so perhaps her next big purchase will be a couple of lights!

As Marie stepped inside Tianna’s studio in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter she was met with a warm welcome and equally warm temperatures. “Sorry about the heat, I keep it warm for the babies,” chuckled Tianna as she guided her apprentice through to the dressing room to meet their first two clients. Makeup artist Gabriele them to sleep,” said Tianna, “we want to capture lots of expressions and their relationship with mum.”
