James Clar on Pierre Huyghe

I met Pierre Huyghe in 2004 while I was doing a residency with Eyebeam Atelier in New York. A fresh 20-something graduate with my master’s from New York University (NYU)’s Interactive Telecommunications program, I was still trying to understand how to apply the technical skills I had learned to an art practice. I worked for the advertising agency R/GA for three months after receiving my degree, but immediately quit once I received my residency with Eyebeam.

At Eyebeam, I was (2004). Then we helped edit and colorcorrect the video documentation of Huyghe’s project (2003). The latter left an impression on me that years later shifted my thoughts on how storytelling, narratives, and technology can be utilized in art.
