Is there a place for land donations in land reform?
A headline story in The Sunday Times in late April highlighted a policy proposal calling for private land donations in an attempt to move the land reform process forward.
Critics denounced the proposal as “privatising land reform” and allowing the land reform agenda to be subjected to the whims of current landowners. On the other side of the spectrum, there is likely to be outrage over the degradation of property rights.
