In the Group 4 era of the late 1970s, Fiat’s 131 Abarth took the World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title three times to the single crown for the Ford Escort Mk2.
Yet ever since the Mk2 was allowed into historic rallying two decades ago, the UK historic scene has been dominated by the Ford.
