Super coupé nuts are we

THE year was 2010. A litre of unleaded cost £1.20, Downtown Abbey hit our screens and the first Apple iPad was launched. And if you wanted a practical, affordable and fun coupé, then you were spoilt for choice – something our testers discovered in our 24 March issue that year.

Audi was still king of the hill with its Mk2 TT. Where the first generation set the template with stunning styling, the second refined the concept: it was better to drive and easier to live with. Has it aged better than the Bauhaus-inspired original? We’ll let you decide. Regardless, its interior still feels special and its sparkling handling means it’s hot property even now.
