INTRODUCTION

GC Smith was one of many such bodybuilders around the UK, which produced a wide range of bodywork over the years. Perhaps better known locally, the company also included some nationally recognised names among its customers.

We have only been able to find out a little about G C Smith and its bodybuilding operations. We know the company was active before World War II and was busy from the late 1940s onwards. There are plenty of pictures of different vehicles with the company’s bodywork, giving an idea of how successful it was for many years.
