This is the best time of year for me here in Northumberland. May is the perfect month to get out into the woods early in the morning. From the middle of the month up until the second week in June, the mature roebucks are at the height of their territorial behaviour. It is a time when the buck that has held his territory for several seasons may be challenged by a one that thinks it is his moment to take over the preferred patch held by the older boy.
