    “I HEARD MRS. NOODLEKNOCKER got a summer job!” Doodlebug Pinkley announced to his sister, Dandelion, and their cousins, Rudyard and Punky.

    The kids were at the beach searching for cool shells and pieces of sea glass. Dandelion laughed at the mention of Mrs. Noodleknocker, Doodlebug’s horrible, spider-eyed teacher.

    “Yeah, what job?” Punky asked. “Sitting on a throne and forcing kids to kiss her crusty old shoes?”
