Electric mini excavator – Komatsu

DD&T Gold Sponsor Komatsu always makes the most of its stand and, in 2022, its latest innovation – a new concept full electric driverless mini excavator – was the standout machine.

The concept excavator was unveiled in mid-2021 as part of the company’s centenary celebrations and was hailed as a next-gen machine that would take earthmoving into the future. The machine is powered by lithium-ion batteries, produces no exhaust gas, heat or noise and, through further technologies such as electric cylinders, utilises no hydraulics.

Fit to operate in the three-tonne class, the machine also requires no operator on board and is operated by a handheld remote control.
