MARINA LIFE NEWCASTLE

After being immersed in the natural wonders of Norfolk’s creeks in our last exploration, this month we are heading to a very different sailing destination in the North Sea – Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Ditch your wellies and get city shoes on, because we’re going to be exploring art galleries, Michelinstarred restaurants and hip brew pubs. There is nothing more invigorating to the senses than contrast, and you will find this in double measures when comparing Blakeney’s Quay to Newcastle’s Quayside; while both are strongly affected by the same tide wave rushing around the North Sea, that’s where the similarities end.

Famous for its night-life, the city offers a wide range of attractions for the culture vulture too, from the world-class Baltic Contemporary Art Gallery to Norman Foster’s Sage Gateshead. Following the river as it meanders upstream, you have the wilds of Northumberland to explore;
