THE 500-MILE SHELBY URBAN LEGEND GT500

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most car events were canceled for 2020. Surprisingly, one went on as scheduled in French Lick, Ind., with mask restrictions and social distancing. It’s where I came across what is believed to be the most-original, lowest-mileage 1970 Shelby GT500 survivor on the planet.

Respected Shelby and Boss expert Ed Meyer speaks plainly when describing Phil Quinn’s low-mileage and unrestored 1970 Shelby GT500, “Phenomenal!” Meyer says. Meyer’s high praise is noteworthy since he’s spent more than 40 years researching low-mileage, unrestored Mustang Boss 429s and Drag Pack 1969-’70 GT500s as his specialties. “It is the lowest mileage 1969-’70 Shelby GT500 known to exist,” he continued. “In fact, I do not know of any 1965-’70 Shelbys with fewer miles.”
