ENGLAND

Greenhill Leisure Park, Oxfordshire

Almost everything about this site is large: the pitches, the fields, the welcome, the children’s play area and the dog walk. The only small thing is the sanitary blocks.

We could have fitted two further motorhomes on our pitch, the grass area next to us being so large. It wasn’t just our pitch, either; they all seemed to be very large.

We were fortunate that, when we arrived mid-week in September, we were the only visitors in a very large field. However, two rallies were due to arrive at the weekend, meaning the park would be full and I am not sure the small toilet facilities for the number of campers would be sufficient. There were only four cubicles of showers and toilets in each block near us.

Do not be put off by this if, like us, you use all the facilities in your motorhome, because this is a truly remarkable site and, for the first time ever, I actually did my washing up in the campsite sinks!

Just down from our pitch was a wild field with mown tracks leading down to the River Cherwell, from where you can fish, as well as several separate fishing ponds on the site. This part of the River Cherwell is also used for the Oxford Canal with locks at either end to keep the water in this section for the boats.
