With a bountiful harvest crop enjoyed and the excess stored away for future use, late autumn is a time to relax, visit and socialise with family and friends. The kererū too, heavy with the fruits of the forest, enjoy a relaxing time of plentitude. Takurua (Sirius) appears in the night sky at this time, with the first indications of the frosts and snows of the cold days to come.
