Trial releases, escapes from enclosures and illegal dumping sites, running well into double figures, stretch from Perthshire to Cornwall, and a lot more are being planned.

As ever with extinct species, those who promote their release speak only of the benefits they will bring. In the case of the beaver, these stem from their status
