Based on 2009 novel , it (mis)casts Mark Wahlberg as a man who learns (Blu-ray/DVD, out now) is the most successful film ever in Japanese cinemas – which is a bit puzzling, really. Bridging the first and second seasons of the TV series, it’s a largely standard anime actioner, set circa 1920, about heroes fighting a monster on a train. We said: “The fights are lively, and unlike many anime spin-off films, you get the sense these battles will have a lasting emotional impact on the heroes.” Our pick of the latest Shudder Exclusives to hit shiny disc is (Blu-ray/DVD, 2 May). In this taut, efficient indie, two 12-year-old boys are kidnapped; one escapes, but goes back to rescue his buddy. We said: “Some plot points raise an eyebrow, but this cat and mouse game has tension in spades.” Finally, there’s a new 4K of (25 April) with the same bonuses as last year’s Arrow Blu-ray, and TV box sets of (Blu-ray/DVD, 2 May), (DVD, out now), and (DVD, 9 May).
