THE recent issues celebrating the 120-year anniversary of Cage & Aviary Birds started me thinking about how long this paper has been in my life.
My father got a copy every week, from the 1940s on to when I took over in the 1960s. We kept Border canaries, Yorkshire canaries and British birds, then later I took on the new red factor canary varieties. It wasn’t until about 1969 that I started on my (now) 53 years’ continuous breeding of zebra finches.
