If you’re after a “getaway”, your first choice mightn’t be a holiday close to home. But hear me out: despite the temptation of getting as far from the daily grind as possible, a good getaway needn’t be hours away. In fact, there’s likely to be a whole host of amazing parks, beaches and forests nearby that are often overlooked in favour of further afield destinations. Plus, staying local helps to cut down carbon emissions. Win-win.
