THE CLASSIC-BOAT MARKET has seen a shift in the past few years, with many seasoned owners selling off prized mahogany vessels as an influx of first-time buyers enters the market. “It’s not so much ageing out as age-shifting, ” says Herb Hall, president of Sierra Boat Company, a secondgeneration sales-and-restoration centre on Lake Tahoe. “What we’re seeing is a younger, more affluent buyer who wants the high-end stuff.”
