IT is hard to imagine a more anxious year for grape growers and winemakers than that of the 2020 vintage.
Besides hostile weather conditions such as terrible bushfires which took a heavy toll of life and property, the industry had to contend with the mysterious unknown coronavirus pandemic that had the potential to do perhaps even more harm especially to human life. Some producers told Winestate the COVID-19 situation was 'scary.'
Slowly however, people in WA followed government protocols to try and ensure human safety as far as possible.
COVID-19 losses however came quickly for WA producers with wine exports falling 26 per cent to four million litres, the lowest since 2011.
