ndrea Hook took the brave decision to leave her job in 2020 to become a full-time artist. ‘I paint mostly in oils with brushes on wooden panels, but I shopfront series was inspired by the arrival of pumpkins at the local grocers. Originally my intention was to paint the scene for an autumnal post on social media, but I then painted Winifred’s 1929 Gallery & Gift Shop next as it stocks my paintings and cards. The local response from the Facebook post was amazing so I kept going. By December I had produced my first calendar and poster-sized giclee prints of our much-loved local independent shops.
