Urban Life

Observation of the movement of light and its relation to form has always been a preoccupation for Bill Jacklin. Most of his paintings and monotypes appear as part of a series reflecting the passage of time and fleeting moments, some parts being reminiscent of photography. ‘Creating light and darkness through the transformative effects of painting is what can make magic. I have always been fascinated by shadows and silhouettes. They are part of our visual world. They dance around us. They are alive. Shadows define the forms we see.’
