STAR SPANGLED BAGGER
Since the first motorcycles hit the streets, riders have been saucing up their rides in a bid to make them faster and handle better. Apart from the organic growth in the performance bagger segment over recent years, the growth in popularity is spiking at the moment in response to the somewhat crazy MotoAmerica King Of The Baggers, which sees heavily modified full-dresser cruisers bumping fairings and bags around racing circuits in the US – it’s quite the spectacle!
Harley has responded to this popularity groundswell, and added two new performance baggers to its Grand America Touring range – the Street Glide ST and Road Glide ST. I went for a quick spin on both models at the recent Brighter Days Festival in Victoria, but have since sought the Street Glide ST out to not only put more meaningful road kilometres on it, but to get my King of the Bagger on and take the thing to a trackday at Sydney Motorsport Park to really test out the performance side of things.
