1 Walk S along the road for a short distance. Where the road enters a strip of woodland and just before it crosses a burn, turn R on a path into the woods. Shadow the burn upstream on a faint path to the edge of the woodland.

2 Turn R, following a new deer fence at first, then an older fence, WNW to the summit of Byrehope Mount (536m; no cairn). Continue NW along the boggy
