Cage & Aviary Birds

Park Life

This year seems to be racing past. True to British tradition, we have had a couple of good weeks of weather, but then bang: minus temperatures, frost and even snow flurries. This doesn’t help when we are trying to breed tropical bird species in a captive environment.

Our breeding pair have been busy nest-building in their enclosure in the walled garden and are incubating a clutch of four eggs. They will do this between them for 32-36 days. Last year we reared three chicks from this newly formed pair and we are hoping they will do the same this time around. We have had a lot of success with this species at the park, achieving first UK breedings through both hand- and parent-rearing.
