Czech mate

“I’ve liked tractors since I was a teenager,” said Martin Lane, who is a member of the County of Salop Steam Engine Society (COSSES). Club members own a variety of classic vehicles, and Martin is currently Tractors (Working Field) secretary. The annual show is held over August bank holiday weekend and is one of the biggest in the UK.

Martin is a welder by trade and has lived in the Broseley area for many years. The town has strong links with the Industrial Revolution. In the 18th and 19th centuries the area developed into a major centre for coal mining and iron manufacturing. The famous Iron Bridge was built in 1779 to link Broseley with Coalbrookdale and led to the foundation of the town of Ironbridge. This is now part of
