‘This 1958 children’s retelling of the stories of the Trojan War and the adventures of Odysseus afterwards was an early immersion into Greek mythology for me. My parents took me on holiday to Cyprus and Greece as a child and I was fascinated by visiting ancient ruins – I loved the sensation of being connected to the long-distant past, to be able to see the mosaics that someone had created all those centuries before that depicted legends we are still telling now.
