happy camper! chocolate sour cream cake with chocolate butter-cream
Things to gather beforehand
• small crackers or biscuits to make a tent
• strawberries
• white chocolate
• raspberry liquorice sticks (or something suitable to use as a ‘toadstool’ stalk)
• foliage and flowers (we used nasturtium and jasmine)
• sticks to make tent pole and logs for fire
• small birthday candle for campfire
• red Smarties and dark chocolate for ladybirds
Chocolate Sour Cream Cake
• 1.5 sticks (175g / 6.2oz) butter
• 2 tbsp neutral oil
• 1 1/2 cups (250g / 9oz) brown sugar
• 4 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 1/2 cups (200g / 7oz) flour
• 3/4 cup (75g / 2.6oz) cocoa
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp ground coffee or coffee powder
• 1 cup (250g / 8.8oz) sour cream
1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 375°F / Gas Mark 4.
2. Beat butter, sugar and oil in an electric mixer until light and creamy.
