ON THE ISLAND OF HAWAII, overlooking a lava field and a golf course, there’s a house that appears to be floating in the lush landscape. Designed by the award-winning Seattle-based architecture firm Olson Kundig, Hale Lana, as the owners call it in homage of its hovering qualities, is comprised of several canopylike pavilions that are linked by elevated wooden lanais and a series of gardens.
