SOUTH AMERICAN SPLENDOR

of my bungalow at Bahia Vik, a suite boutique resort set on Uruguay’s southeastern coast, I’m met by a gust of warm maritime air. The rhythmic sound of ocean waves crashing into the shallow surf is loud, revealing that the beach is enticingly near, but from the vantage point of my partially shaded deck only the South Atlantic’s calm and distant azure waters on the horizon can be seen just above the dunes.
