MATERIALS

• Fat quarter of cream tone-on-tone fabric (embroidery)
• Seven assorted fabric scraps at least 6.5 x 20cm (2 1/2 x 8in) in size (basket)
• 25cm ( 1/4yd) lemon floral print fabric (lining and base)
• 25cm (10in) square of green stripe print fabric (binding)
• 25cm (10in) square of white floral print fabric (pin cushion petals)

• 10cm ( 1/8yd) light green check print fabric (handle)
• 15 x 30cm (6 x 12in) solid light pink print fabric (pin cushion)
• 25 x 110cm ( 1/4 x 1 1/3yd) thin fusible batting
• 225 x 110cm ( 1/4 x 1 1/3yd) bag batting
• 8cm (3 1/2in) square of cream wool felt (needle case)
• Finca Presencia Stranded Embroidery Thread: Pale Yellow (1137), Medium Mauve (2232), Light Cyclamen Pink (2307), Pale Delft Blue (3305), Yellow Green (4550), Medium Yellow Green (4885), Dark Hazelnut Brown (7408), Light Topaz (8069), Shaded Medium Yellow (9060), Shaded Light Pink (9335), Shaded Light Blue (9630)
• Crewel embroidery and milliners/straw needles Size 9 or 10
• Three, 15mm ( 5/8in) pink buttons
• One, 6mm ( 1/4in) pink button
• One, 20mm ( 3/4in) decorative button (optional)
• Ceramic or 2B pencil
• Small embroidery hoop
• Removable fabric-marking pen
• Large sheet of paper (pattern)
• Fibre fill
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine
• General sewing supplies

Stitches used: Backstitch, blanket stitch, bullion stitch, detached chain (lazy daisy) stitch, fly stitch, French knots, pinwheel blanket stitch, pistil stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, slipstitch, stem stitch, straight stitch, whip stitch. Finished size: Basket: 16 x 53cm (6 1/4 x 21in) around, excluding handles

Needle case: 9cm (3 1/2in)

Pincushion: 11cm (4 1/4in)

Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. Requirements are based on fabrics 107cm (42in) wide. A 1/4in seam allowance is used throughout unless otherwise stated. Use two strands of embroidery thread unless otherwise stated. Instructions are provided for using the printed Pattern Sheet in the magazine, but you can also download the digital patterns from www.homespun.net.auand print them out. A kit including all the fabrics used in this project is available from Faeries in my Garden.
