The unmistakable ‘boom-ch-boom-chick’ is dembow, a reggaeton mutation that started in Jamaica in the late 1970s and spread like hot butter across the east coast of the US, finding its largest base in the Dominican Republic, Tokischa’s home. This is the music video for her track “Desacato Escolar”, art-directed around the titular theme of hating school.
