Blue Takes Lead on Big Fish List

Maui Police Department Sergeant Eric Losvar landed a 578-lb blue marlin while fishing aboard the FINEST KIND with Capt. Sean Hudson and Capt. Anthony Riccio. Sean was fishing southwest of Lahaina, between Lana‘i and Kaho‘olawe in 350 fathoms of water around a pinnacle nicknamed “Magic Mountain.” He saw two boobies flying ahead, so he headed over toward the area. Suddenly, they had a knockdown on the short ’rigger and saw a boil on the lure, but the fish did not hook up.
