As the crow flies
Shooting crows to control the numbers is vital for ongoing conservation management in the UK. My local crow numbers have always been high and need to be controlled, providing some tremendous sporting opportunities in the process.
However, you should never underestimate the intelligence of corvids. A sharp intellect, combined with excellent eyesight and a slow flight speed, can result in a problematic quarry to decoy successfully.
Through readers’ questions I often hear that newcomers to crow shooting don’t know where to start when trying to decoy. This led me to think that it would be a great subject to explore for an overview of the basics, which, hopefully, even experienced vermin shooters can benefit from.
