ontinuing our feature on the impact of the mighty Carbine through his son Spearmint, this month brings us to a rather unheralded stallion in Catmint. Born in 1909, Catmint was raced by Sir Leonard Brassey and was a quality galloper winning the Prince Of Wales Stakes and running second in the Gratwick Stakes as a 3yo. At four, Catmint ran second behind another son of Spearmint in Lance Chest who had been bred and raced by Major Loder. He then had perhaps his most important win in the Goodwood Handicap.
