From learning through YouTube tutorials, Japanese magazine pattern stencils and thrift clothing articles, avant-garde Filipino fashion designer Jaggy Glarino has become one of the most promising artists in the industry. With his non-conformist approach, Glarino envisions a Philippine fashion industry that is diverse and inclusive, one that celebrates every aspect of individuality.

CREATIVE BEGINNINGS

Since his youth, Glarino has always had a strong artistic bent. His family was very supportive of his involvement in various artistic expressions and disciplines, may it be his school’s contemporary ballet dance squad, church choir or poster-making competitions. Surprisingly, the thought of being a fashion designer didn’t occur to Glarino until he was in college, where he was taking up BS Nursing. His fondness for creating costumes and clothes, specifically for school pageants, started out as a hobby.
